HUSS 355– Social Program Development:
This was a portion of the portfolio project. In this section, identified the selected populations, community needs, and how the program would benefit both the community and the selected population. A SWOT analysis was completed for the community that includes the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. The analysis helps to better understand the factors that impact a community and assist in creating meaningful goals and objectives for programs and services. By completing the analysis it allows for a greater understanding that can assist in creating a more inclusive and effective programs that will meed the needs of the community.

HUSS 425– Advanced Case Management Strategies:
In this essay, I had to create a client scenario that provides a description of the clients identifying information, current functioning as well as an explanation of why they are seeking services. Within the scenario a description was provided of almost all the clients identifying information. Within this essay, one had to discuss the application of listening and verbal skills, professionalism skills and the role of cultural responsiveness in providing services to a case management client.

HUSS 350 - Special Populations :
This report focused on the unique needs of individuals with mental health needs or disabilities. I had to identify at least two needs commonly faced by people experiencing each disorder or disability. After the needs have been identified, it was required to describe at least two barriers that people experiencing this disorder or disability might face when they try to access care or services. Lastly, I was challenged to look up interventions and services that could help people experiencing this disorder or disability; and then to name a specific local agency or organization and describe the services they provide.

Applying Culturally Responsive Skills in Case Management Essay -Examine the structure and dynamics of the populations served by human services professionals, how they have changed over time, and how the field of human services has changed in response.
HUSS 425– Advanced Case Management Strategies Assessment:
The culturally responsive case management assessment strengthened my understanding of the diverse populations served by human services professionals and the personal, cultural, economic, social, and environmental factors that influence client needs. Through the client scenario, I examined how disability, mental health, race, spirituality, family relationships, employment, housing, finances, and community connections may affect an individual’s experiences. The assessment also demonstrated how the human services field has become increasingly focused on person-centered care, cultural humility, self-determination, collaboration, and community inclusion. In the workplace, this knowledge will help me avoid assumptions, recognize each client’s individual strengths and needs, and provide respectful services that adapt to changing populations.

Mock Interview Simulation - Community and Career
SOSC225– Career Development II Theory & Practice:
The mock interview simulation supported the Community and Career outcome by allowing me to apply academic knowledge and life experiences to a realistic career situation. Through this assessment, I practiced communicating professionally, describing my education and qualifications, responding thoughtfully to interview questions, and explaining how my knowledge, skills, and experiences would contribute to an organization. The simulation also increased my awareness of the importance of cultural sensitivity in the workplace by encouraging respectful communication, openness to diverse perspectives, and recognition of how different backgrounds and experiences can strengthen professional environments.

HUSS 355– Program Development Assessment:
The program evaluation and measurement assessment strengthened my ability to use organized methods of data collection and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of human services programs. I developed measurable goals, identified appropriate performance indicators, and considered how quantitative and qualitative information could be used to determine whether services were meeting participants’ needs. The assessment demonstrated the importance of using evidence rather than assumptions when evaluating program outcomes and making decisions. Applying quantitative reasoning also supports accountability and helps organizations communicate outcomes to stakeholders and funding agencies

SOCS 301- Interpersonal & Group Dynamics:
The work scenario with coworkers, was focused on conflict and communication report. In the report, I had to summarize conflict, analyze communication methos, and apply alternate approaches. The video displayed conflict and the student had to analyze the conflict and the communication issues or promises seen in the video. As well as what could have been different in the present situation. The last steps was to imagine myself in the situation and state how I would progress through the situation.

Assessment:
The client communication reflection encouraged me to examine my communication choices and evaluate how my personal experiences, beliefs, assumptions, and professional approach may influence interactions with clients. Through reflection and analysis, I considered how clients from different backgrounds might interpret professional language, tone, nonverbal communication, and service recommendations. This assessment strengthened my critical-thinking and self-evaluation skills while emphasizing the importance of continuous professional growth. In the workplace, I can use reflection to evaluate my performance, recognize potential biases, respond constructively to feedback, and adjust my communication strategies to meet clients’ individual needs.

Intervention Strategies, Portfolio Project -Information Literacy and Communication
HUSS 450 – Public Policy and Social Advocacy: The portfolio project encouraged me to research at least two gaps in policies that are not addressed or adequately addressed in support of single parents. In the project, I was able to provide an overview of the research prepared on local, state and federal policies. It was also required to propose a practical and achievable intervention strategy to bridge both gaps in support and help with the societal challenges faced by single parents. Lastly, I was challenged to identify entities with power to support the intervention strategy.
