Fall 2024
1. Hospital and Acute Care Pharmacy Experience
Over the Fall 2024 semester (08/12/24 – 12/13/24) at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital and Paris Regional Hospital, I worked on understanding how pharmacists support patient care in hospital and acute care settings. I observed rounds, assisted with medication reconciliation, reviewed patient charts, and shadowed clinical pharmacists. These activities helped me recognize medication safety issues and see how complex cases are managed by the healthcare team.By the end of the semester, I felt more confident identifying potential medication problems and supporting safe practices, as reflected in preceptor feedback and my increased involvement in patient care tasks.
2. Community, Specialty, and Ambulatory Practice Exposure
During the Fall 2024 semester (09/23/24 – 12/13/24), I gained experience in different outpatient practice areas, including TylerRx Pharmacy, the UT Health East Texas – HOPE Cancer Center, and the Anticoagulation Clinic. I observed prescription processing, oncology medication preparation, and anticoagulation management, and participated in patient counseling. These experiences helped me understand how pharmacists tailor care across community, specialty, and ambulatory settings.By the end of the semester, I became more comfortable communicating with patients and pharmacy staff and developed a stronger appreciation for delivering patient-centered care across varied practice environments.

In the Spring 2025 semester (02/10/25 – 05/09/25) at Walmart, I focused on learning how prescriptions flow through a community pharmacy and how records are maintained accurately. These activities gave me insight into the importance of organized workflow and precise record-keeping.By the end of the semester, I was more confident navigating workflow tasks and appreciated the role of clear documentation in ensuring safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
2. Over-the-Counter Product Knowledge and Safety
Throughout the Spring 2025 semester (02/10/25 – 05/09/25) at Walmart, I aimed to improve my understanding of over-the-counter (OTC) medications and how to recommend them safely. I researched common OTC products, observed counseling interactions between pharmacists and patients, and discussed product selection with my preceptor.By the conclusion of the rotation, I was able to make appropriate OTC recommendations and explain product options confidently under preceptor guidance.
